JONELLE MULLEN

Owner / Head Trainer

Jonelle is a 40+ year USEF member and has been running her private boarding and training business at various farms in Northern Virginia since 1993, and prides herself on creating sound, fit, happy horses and educated riders.  She provides top-level instruction to more than 25 students on the local and national level of show hunters, jumpers and equitation. 

 

Jonelle has trained National indoor hunter finals ribbon winners at Harrisburg, Washington and Zone 3 Finals; VHSA, MHSA and Zone 3 equitation champions; and VHSA, MHSA, Zone 3 and USEF National year-end champions.  

 

Jonelle rides all horses regularly to ensure that training, soundness and fitness are on track with goals and expectations. 

 

She has shown in National and International Hunter Derbies, piloted the International Hunter Futurity 3-year-old Champion, and shows regularly in A-rated and prep divisions.  In addition, Jonelle has secured NCAA Division I riding scholarships for working students at Texas A&M University and has handled placement of client horses for donation to reputable colleges and high school riding programs.  In addition to her equestrian experience, she serves as Sponsorship Coordinator on several horse show and equine association boards.

 

Jonelle has set unprecedented goals for herself as well as her students at TuDane farm. She trains young horses and all levels of riders for the hunter, jumper and equitation rings. Since 1993, Jonelle has ridden and worked for numerous well-known Virginia horse professionals, including Daniel and Louisa Lenehan, Tommy Serio, Joan Fox Miller, Gus Forbush and Pam Baker.  She has trained and ridden International Hunter Futurity Champions, a  VHSA 3-year-old Champion,  a VHSA Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat Reserve Champion,  a Washington International Horse Show Local Hunter Champion, numerous Zone 3 Adult and Children’s Hunter Champions, countless HITS Circuit Hunter and Equitation Champions,  a National Horse Show Amateur Owner O/F winner, qualifiers for the National Equitation and Hunter finals, National and International USHJA derby winners, and many other horses and riders in divisions from Short Stirrup to the 3’6” hunters and equitation.  Jonelle has been the leading trainer, as well as the top rider, at the Summerplace Farm show series, and with her mother Tracy, has trained students to Short Circuit and Picturesque Farm series championships as well.

TRACY MULLEN

Owner / Founder / Trainer

TuDane Farm also employs the expertise of Tracy Mullen, Jonelle’s mother, as assistant trainer. Tracy is the original founder of TuDane Farm and is a long-time equestrian and horse professional. 

​

After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, she established the business on Long Island, NY in 1968. She spent 30 years on Long Island where she organized the Manorville Horse Lovers 4H group, was the Suffolk County 4H leader for five years and founded Olde Suffolk Pony Club, the first and only pony club in Suffolk County, N.Y. She coached the Pony Club to the Regional Combined Training Championship and Regional Show Jumping Championship, and in addition her student was National High Point Individual. She bred, raised and trained AHSA Zone II Reserve Champion and National ribbon winners in the Hunter Breeding Two and Three Year Old division, in addition to the Zone II AHSA Medal Champion, the Long Island Equitation Champion, the Tri-State Equitation Champion, the Long Island Pony Equitation Champion, and the Long Island Green Working Hunter Champion. In 1983 she was awarded the Long Island Professional Horseman’s Association Horseperson of the Year. She also trained Long Island High Score Adult Champion, the National Professional Horseman’s Association Fifth ranked rider and the fourth place rider at the East Coast USET Finals. Over the years she qualified riders for the AHSA Medal, ASPCA Maclay and USET Medal finals and coached riders to Bronze, Silver and Gold USET Medals. In addition her students continued their successes and were Regional Intercollegiate High Point Rider, National Intercollegiate Open Rider Champion, Cachione Cup winner, National Intercollegiate Alumni rider and National Reserve Champion rider.

Tracy relocated to Virginia in 1990 and turned the reins over to Jonelle in 1993, but continues to teach, train and coach in partnership with Jonelle. Tracy is a USEF “R” Judge certified in Hunters and Hunt Seat Equitation, and a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, the United States Hunter Jumper Association and the Virginia Horse Show Association.
